Demolition, Excavation, Site Preparation

Demolition, excavation, and site preparation completed safely and precisely—creating stable foundations for long-lasting construction results.

We remove existing elements, excavate to required depths, and prepare stable sub-base conditions for new work. This phase is executed with strict safety, accuracy, and schedule control.

Demolition & Excavation

What it is
Demolition and excavation are the heavy groundwork that clears a site and prepares it for what comes next: new construction, grading correction, foundations, and underground services. It includes tearing down and removing existing structures, hauling away debris and soils, reshaping elevations, and digging to precise depths for building and utility requirements.

What we typically do
We handle demolition of old structures (where permitted and scheduled), removal and disposal of debris, excavation for grading and site shaping, foundation excavation, trenching for water and sewer lines, and backfill/rough grade preparation once underground work is completed.

When you typically need it
You’ll need demolition when an existing house, garage, or structure must be removed to make way for a new build. You’ll need excavation when the site requires major regrading, when soil must be removed or relocated to meet elevations, when foundations or footings must be dug to engineered depths, or when water and sewer lines need trenching, replacement, or new connections.

Why it’s worth doing right
This phase controls the success of everything above it. Accurate excavation protects foundation integrity and prevents costly rework. Proper grading sets drainage direction and reduces future water problems. Clean trenching and backfill practices reduce settlement around services. A well-managed demo and excavation process also keeps timelines tighter and the jobsite safer and more organized.

What to expect
We start with planning for access, staging, and disposal, then confirm utility locates and any required permits or approvals. Next comes controlled demolition and haul-away, followed by excavation to specified depths and slopes for grading and foundations. If utility trenches are required, we excavate to line and depth requirements and coordinate inspections where applicable. Finally, we backfill, compact where needed, and leave the site in rough grade condition, ready for the next trade.

Common questions

Do you handle permits and locates?
Locates are arranged before digging; permits depend on the scope and municipality, and this is confirmed upfront so the project stays compliant.

What happens with the removed soil and debris?
Material is either hauled off, reused on site if suitable, or managed according to disposal requirements and project needs.

Can excavation affect neighbouring properties?
It can if access, slope stability, or drainage is not managed properly—site planning and safe excavation practices prevent these issues.
